GM All...I have something in my heart I feel that I need share and I thought it may be helpful to you.
I actually work from home now for a very reputable company taking inbound calls and processing orders. And if you have ever worked in the telecommunication industry, you know that the calls are monitored for quality assurance purposes from time to time.
So this morning I was logging on to start my work day and I noticed that I had a performance review awaiting me. All you have to do is click on it to open it, read it, take note of any suggestions for improvement that are recommended and click to accept it. Sounds easy enough right?!?!?!? WRONG!!!!
Before I opened the review I had already claimed my failure. That I didn't do well at all. To the point that I would get placed on disciplinary action or even fired. Yeah...my mind was completely gone at this point.
So at that point I decided I wasn't going to open it at all. Why did I need this bad news early in the morning. To possibly ruin my whole day. I would just continue with my work day and just act like it wasn't there.
Why do we do this to ourselves? I know I can't be the only one. We are so willing to accept that we are a failure instead of claiming success initially.
In any situation that we are facing, we have the right, no, the obligation to keep an open mind. To decide that no matter what the outcome is, we can take from it the lesson intended by God and grow from it. Unlike myself (this morning), please take the higher road. Claim your victory and success first, not your failure.
And by the way, I got a 100% on my performance review......
